How the TABCC shows up in your community.

Your TABCC sponsors and supports important programs related to the safe and responsible use of alcohol on the Boundary. They are:

  • Alcohol Law Enforcement

Your local Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) is the lead enforcement agency for the Tribe’s alcoholic beverage control laws. With a diverse and highly specialized workforce, ALE is measured by the positive impact it makes on our community and others. Special agents are peace officers authorized to investigate, arrest, and take enforcement action for any criminal offense, with territorial jurisdiction throughout Tribal Lands.

The mission of the Alcohol Law Enforcement Division is to reduce crime and enhance public safety throughout Tribal Lands. ALE emphasizes working with local law enforcement agencies to provide solutions to community-based problems. ALE partners with Cherokee Tribal Law Enforcement, the Cherokee Police Chief, and other surrounding law enforcement agencies to spearhead enforcement operations aimed at making communities safer.

  • D.A.R.E.

Drug Abuse Resistance Education, or D.A.R.E., is sponsored by the TABCC and helps encourage all the kids at Cherokee Central Schools to lead safe, productive, and drug-free lives.

  • Prom Promise

A high school prom can be such a special, memorable occasion. Often, however, it’s an opportunity for our youngest Tribal Members to engage in underage drinking. Prom Promise is a program sponsored by the TABCC and the Tribal ALE Division, and its focus covers local Cherokee high schools during prom season.

Students get a firsthand glimpse into the dangers of driving while intoxicated by navigating a go-cart manipulated by remote control that simulates losing control of the vehicle as if they were intoxicated. A crash simulator is also used to demonstrate how a high-speed car accident feels. Students can even try on “drunk goggles” and try to walk a straight line. These interactive tools and real, emotional stories help Tribal ALE Agents educate high school students about how to make the right, legal choice on their big night.

Donations Policy

The Tribal ABC Commission recognizes that the use and abuse of alcohol, drugs, and other substances is detrimental to our community. Our mission is to focus on alcohol education, substance abuse, and the health of our communities. Through the establishment of an alcohol education policy, we support efforts and programs that promote awareness and education to prevent underage drinking and to prepare young adults to make responsible decisions about alcohol.
